What is self-love and what does it have to do with career coaching?

I am a big fan of Yung Pueblo. I recently read 'How to Love Better', and I am now reading 'Lighter', about the art of letting go.

One idea that really resonates with me is Pueblo's definition of self-love as being composed of three elements:

1️⃣ Radical honesty

2️⃣ Self-acceptance

3️⃣ Positive habit building

These are also three elements I integrate into my coaching approach.

1. Radical honesty — creating space to be truthful with yourself.

Seeking coaching can be an act of self-love. It creates a space where you can take a step back, look inward with curiosity, and be completely honest about what you really want, what you value, what you need to work on, and what may no longer feel right in your current phase of life or career.

2. Self-acceptance — accepting your truth and reality without judgment.

Once we become clearer about what is true for us, the next step is learning to accept it. This means accepting our flaws, our mistakes and the areas where we could do better — and making them our own rather than judging or rejecting ourselves for them.

It also means letting go of comparisons and of the rules and expectations we may have unconsciously adopted from others, simply because we believe we should follow them.

3. Positive habit building — turning insight into action.

Self-awareness and acceptance are powerful, but they also need to translate into everyday life. Coaching can help you with practical tools and implementation of small steps - sustainable habits that move you in the direction you want to go.

As a coach, my aim is to create a safe space where you can listen to yourself, accept yourself, and take meaningful steps towards a life and career that feels more aligned with who you are.

And for me that is self-love in action. ❤️
