Simplicity at work

I have been reading 'A Simpler Life' by the School of Life and was inspired by a chapter about simplicity at work underlining a couple of key points in how we could approach our work life with more simplicity:
1) Making time to think can be uncomfortable. It requires us to slow down, reflect on our goals, question our actions and ideas, and consider situations from other people's perspectives.
Yet thoughtful reflection is essential to meaningful work. A healthy work culture recognises that good thinking leads to better outcomes and that reflection is not separate from action but a necessary part of it.
Rather than constantly focusing on doing more - answering emails and attending meeting after meeting - we should create space to pause, question our assumptions, and ensure our efforts are aligned with what truly matters.
2) There is significant external pressure to equate our self-worth with our ability to earn a high income. According to the School of Life, our preoccupation with money may stem from not having discovered passions or values that matter enough to occupy our minds and hearts.
Of course, money is necessary. It provides security and enables us to live comfortably and pursue the things we enjoy. However, genuine contentment and freedom may come from identifying the few things we value more deeply than financial success.
By focusing on the values, issues and relationships that truly matter to us, we can redefine success in a way that is more meaningful and sustainable.
