Last weekend, I listened to a podcast by Tara Brach, one of my favourite spiritual teachers, that explored positive psychology and how it can support us in challenging times. We live in a world filled with lots of suffering and uncertainty, and many of us are directly affected—some even facing the possibility of losing our jobs. It's hard to know what the future holds.
That’s why I truly believe in the importance of practicing positive thinking. Cultivating a positive mindset can shift how we feel and perceive our circumstances. It can help us break free from feeling stuck. Positive thinking empowers us to take meaningful action that supports our wellbeing. The actions we take, shaped by a positive outlook, influence who we become and how we show up in the world—and ultimately, they help shape our destiny.
I actively integrate positive psychology into my coaching sessions. I choose to focus on what’s good, rather than what's wrong.
According to Seligman's Perma model, there are 5 key building stones to nurture positive psychology into our daily life.
✅ Positive Emotions: What brings you joy or gratitude? Focus on activities that boost these feelings.
✅ Engagement: What tasks absorb you so fully that you lose track of time? When are you in the 'flow'?
✅ Relationships: Who in your life brings you peace, joy, and support?
✅ Meaning: What gives your life purpose? What feels truly worthwhile to you?
✅ Accomplishment: What goals matter to you—and what steps will help you get there?
When you're feeling stuck or a bit lost, it's helpful to take a step back and reflect on these five key elements—they can guide you back on track and reconnect you with what truly matters.
How will you practice positive thinking? Let me know in the comments!
